PROGRAMMES OF STUDY

Quantity Surveying is one of the most sought after Degree programmes in Sri Lanka due to the immense demand for Quantity surveyors in the construction industry both in Sri Lanka and abroad. It is also considered as one of the most lucrative professions with career opportunities abroad, especially in the Middle Eastern region.
There are two professional pathways offered for Quantity Surveying through the Faculty of Engineering at SLIIT.
School leavers can enroll into the 3 year Degree programme to pass out with a B.Sc(Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying. For someone who is already practicing Quantity Surveying without a Degree qualification, a short-cut will be offered to obtain a B.Sc(Hons) Degree in Quantity Surveying within a period of just 1 year. However, they will require an accepted HND, Edexel, NVQ level4 or equivalent qualification for entrance.
Degrees will be awarded by the University of Liverpool John Moores – UK. They will cover subject areas ranging from measurement, estimating and costing, contract law, contract administration, project management and quantity surveying practice. By collaborating with Liverpool John Moores University in the UK, SLIIT will be bringing in a global flavor and international standards to the study sphere of quantity surveying together with practical exposure throughout the programme.
The Quantity surveying programme being nested within the School of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering of SLIIT, offer students a unique chance to collaborate with other professionals involved in the construction field as Engineers and Architects, for an overall understanding of the building process and project experience.
The teaching staff will consist of experienced academic and professional Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, and other subject specialists of the highest caliber.
With a recognized degree in Quantity Surveying, there will be many other professional avenues that will open up for the student. This degree will allow entry to Masters programmes in areas such as Contracts and Negotiation, Procurement Advising and Consultation, Arbitration, Cost Controlling, Cost Planning and Project Management.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Entry Requirements:
3 year Degree Programme :
• 3 Passes Minimum G.C.E. Local/London A/L (or equivalent)
Top-Up one year degree available for HND or equivalent qualification holders
